This post is going to be all about the wonderful variety of clients…

They come in all types: some are fantastically easy to deal with and are happy with the design and service I provide and let me use all my artistic vision to give them a great website/graphic, others complain that the colour of their page´s background needs to be just half a shade lighter and keep asking me to change tiny little things, switching words around etc. even after we have been through it 100 times and saw that it was all good already. Now, I don´t really mind all this - it´s a nice challenge and keeps me on my toes!

An annoying type of client is the one that I start designing for and then after 2 weeks of hard work I don´t hear from them for a few days. A week. 2 weeks. I usually take a deposit up front because these things happen more often than you´d think, but sometimes I give people a bit of leeway.

The worst part about this is that you have already told other potential clients that you are too busy with the current project and can´t take on any more work right now, but in reality you end up with lots of time where you could really be doing *their* website, if it wasn´t for the people that left you hanging with no news or a sign that they are even alive. Basically, it messes up you whole project time planning schedule.

However, the most annoying and frustrating clients, in my view, are the ones that insist on (and this is just an example) having an apostrophe - the punctuation mark that, in my view, will one day cause the total breakdown of civilisation - in a place where it´s either not needed or in the wrong place. So I consult my various sources and “grammar whore” friends and communities on the internet just to make sure that *I* am not wrong, but the client still wants it his/her own way, i.e. the *incorrect* way.

A small thing like an apostrophe in the wrong place is what, in my humble opinion, makes an entire website look unprofessional and illiterate, and it goes against my whole being to *leave* an abomination such as a misplaced apostrophe in a piece of text when I *know* that it´s in the wrong place. This is the stuff of my nightmares!

Reading this, you are probably a potential (or existing) client of mine, and you can trust me to make sure that all the spelling on your website is correct - after all, that´s all part of the service I provide.

Mind you, if you ask me to design your website and I tell you that I am too tired at the moment to do so, that would probably be because I did not get any sleep for the last few nights, having been plagued by horrible nightmares about apostrophes crawling up from under my bed and trying to “get” me….
